Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Pokhara – Jomsom – Muktinath (200 KM | 8-9 HRS)

We will pick you up from anywhere inside Pokhara Valley at your convenience. Start the day with a scenic drive through the winding mountain roads, surrounded by lush river valleys and terraced hills. The road takes us through the Kali Gandaki Valley, with spectacular views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Tukuche peaks rising high above the river and villages along the way. We pass the towns of Balung, Beni, and Lete Village, and stop at Rupse Waterfall. You’ll see small villages and green hills, with farmers waving and smiling everywhere. We stop at Tatopani Hot Springs here, where you can dip your feet in the gentle, warm water and relax for a bit.

We pause to explore the Marpha village, walk around its friendly streets, and meet some local families. As we travel further, the valley narrows and the mountains look even bigger. By evening, we reach Jomsom, where the air is fresh and cool.

After checking in at our lodge, your guide takes everyone to the Kali Gandaki River. Here, you can see pilgrims collecting Shaligram stones, which are special and considered gifts from God. At dinner, you enjoy hot local food. The sounds of the river and mountains make for a peaceful night.

Day 2: Muktinath – Marpha – Pokhara (200 KM | 8-9 HRS)

In the morning, the mountains look big and beautiful all around. Today is the day to visit Muktinath Temple. We will head towards the temple from Jomsom, about 25 kilometers away. The drive takes around 1 hour through a scenic valley.

Once we reach the last stop, you’ll need to walk for about 10 minutes to get to Muktinath Temple. If anyone finds walking difficult, horses are available to ride for a short distance. At the temple, you can take a holy bath under 108 water spouts. Your guide will help you with prayers at the eternal flame and inside the temple. Please note that photography inside the temple is not allowed.

After visiting, we say goodbye to Muktinath and drive back the same way. While returning, we will visit Dhumba Lake, a serene spot perfect for photos and a short walk around the lake. We also stop at Marpha Village to explore its charming streets, meet local families, and enjoy the apple orchards. By evening, we reach Pokhara, and you can relax by the lake after a special day.

Day 3: Pokhara Sightseeing & Departure

On the final day of your spiritual journey, take the time to explore the cultural and natural highlights of Pokhara before concluding your trip. Begin with a visit to Bindhyabasini Temple, one of the oldest and most sacred temples in the city, dedicated to Goddess Durga. Spend some time observing the local rituals and enjoying the peaceful temple atmosphere.

Next, head to Davis Fall, a stunning waterfall where water plunges into an underground tunnel, creating a unique spectacle. Nearby, explore the Gupteshwor Cave, a mysterious and sacred cave with impressive stalactites and stalagmites, offering a glimpse into Pokhara’s natural wonders.

Afterwards, make your way to the Peace Stupa, a hilltop Buddhist monument that provides breathtaking panoramic views of Pokhara city, Phewa Lake, and the surrounding mountains. Take a leisurely walk along the paths, enjoy the serene surroundings, and capture some memorable photos.

Finally, visit Pumdikot, a quiet hilltop viewpoint where you can relax, enjoy the cool mountain breeze, and reflect on your spiritual journey. This spot is perfect for watching the sunset or simply soaking in the beauty of Pokhara’s landscapes.

FAQs

What is the maximum altitude reached during this tour?

The highest point of this journey is Muktinath Temple at 3,710 meters (12,172 feet) above sea level. Pokhara sits at 820 meters, so you’ll experience an elevation gain of approximately 2,890 meters during the ascent.

Is 3 days enough time for this tour?

Yes, three days is ideal for this pilgrimage. It provides enough time to reach Muktinath, experience the sacred temple, explore nearby attractions, and return to Pokhara without feeling rushed. The itinerary is carefully structured for natural acclimatization.

I'm not used to high altitude. Will I be okay?

Most people without prior altitude experience manage well due to the gradual ascent. Stay hydrated, eat well, and avoid overexertion. If you have medical conditions related to altitude, consult a doctor beforehand. Very few travelers experience significant altitude sickness on this itinerary.

What are the early signs of altitude sickness, and what should I do?

Early mild signs may include faster breathing, slight headache, or mild fatigue. These often resolve within a few hours. If symptoms become severe—such as persistent headaches, nausea, or shortness of breath—inform your guide immediately. The gradual descent on Day 2 afternoon helps prevent complications.

What's the condition of the roads?

The roads are well-maintained mountain highways but are winding due to the terrain. The Pokhara–Beni–Jomsom Road is a major highway. While generally good, expect curves and mountain passes. Our drivers navigate these routes safely every day.

Is the vehicle comfortable for long drives?

Yes. We use private 4WD vehicles such as Scorpio Jeeps with comfortable seating and strong suspension. These vehicles are designed for mountain roads. Regular stops are included for rest and sightseeing.

What is special about Muktinath Temple?

Muktinath is one of Nepal’s most sacred pilgrimage sites for both Hindus and Buddhists. It symbolizes liberation (moksha). The temple features 108 sacred water taps with naturally heated spring water and an eternal flame that burns naturally from the ground. Thousands of pilgrims visit each year for blessings.

What does '108 sacred water spouts' mean?

The 108 water spouts represent 108 forms of purification in Hindu tradition. Pilgrims bathe under each spout for spiritual cleansing. The number 108 is sacred in both Hinduism and Buddhism and appears widely in spiritual rituals and practices.

Can I take photographs inside the temple?

Photography is not allowed inside Muktinath Temple out of respect for the sacred environment. You may take photos outside the temple and around the surrounding landscapes.

What are the accommodations like?

We provide clean and comfortable tourist-standard hotels with essential amenities such as hot water and reliable meals. At higher altitudes like Jomsom, facilities are simpler but safe and clean. All accommodations are selected for comfort and hygiene.

Will the rooms have hot water and electricity?

Yes. All accommodations provide hot water and electricity. In some mountain areas, electricity may be limited during certain hours, but essential services remain available.

Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?

Yes. Please inform us of any dietary requirements, allergies, or preferences when booking. Vegetarian, vegan, and other special diets can be arranged. You may also inform your guide on Day 1 for adjustments.

What about people with mobility issues?

Please inform us in advance about any mobility concerns. Horses can be arranged for the final walk to Muktinath Temple. Many activities can be modified to suit your comfort. We will do our best to accommodate your needs.

What time will you pick me up?

Pickup usually begins early morning (around 6:00–7:00 AM) to maximize daylight for travel and sightseeing. The exact time will be confirmed at booking.

Are these roads safe?

Yes. These routes are regularly used by travelers and locals. Our drivers are highly trained in mountain driving. While roads are winding due to Himalayan terrain, safety is prioritized at all times.

What's the difference between Muktinath and other pilgrimage sites in Nepal?

Muktinath is unique because of its combined Hindu–Buddhist significance, its 108 water spouts, the eternal natural flame, and its high-altitude location at 3,710m. The journey blends physical challenge with deep spiritual meaning.

What language does the guide speak?

Our guides speak English and Nepali fluently. If you need a guide in another language, please let us know when booking.

Can I request specific stops not mentioned in the itinerary?

Yes, we can often include special stops or experiences based on your interests. Let us know during booking so we can adjust the timing and route accordingly.

Do I need to walk to reach Muktinath Temple?

Yes. There is a 10-minute uphill walk from the parking area at Ranipauwa to the temple. If walking is difficult, horses are available for hire to cover this short distance. The pathway is well-maintained with stone steps.
